Learn the essential chair-making techniques by building a three legged Perch Stool using only hand tools.
In this class you will learn the benefits and requirements of working with green wood and to shape wood using specialized hand tools.
You will build the leg structure using round mortises and tenons to join the legs to the stretchers, and conical tenons to join the legs to the seat. To make conical mortises you will learn how to use the reamer.
Some of the tools you will be using: Hand planes, Drawknife, Adze, Scorp, Travisher, Spokeshave, Carving Gouge, Reamer…
All the tools, wood and materials are included. You don’t need to bring any tools but you can if you want to.
The wood is sourced directly from the local forest. We will most likely use Cherry wood.

Do I need any previous experience?
Yes, this is an intermediate class. You need some experience with wood working and hand tools.
Is the accommodation included?
No. But it is important that you stay close to the masía so we avoid any issues. We can get accommodation for all the group in Gualba which is 15 minutes away. Transportation from and to Gualba is included every day.
Where will we have lunch?
Lunch and snacks are included in the price. We will stop for an hour and a half every day to enjoy a Barbecue with a variety of options. Breakfast and dinners are not included.
How many students will there be?
There are only 3 places available.
In what language is the class taught?
Spanish. Andrea speaks English and understands Catalan but for the sake of the class rhythm it will be taught in only Spanish.
Will there be more dates in the future?
Yes, next edition will be in September. If you wish to attend, please fill out the registration form.
